Begin your journey early from Haridwar. Drive along the Ganga and Alaknanda rivers with panoramic views of the Himalayas. Pass through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag—the sacred confluences of Uttarakhand. Break for meals at local dhabas offering parathas and chai. Reach Joshimath by evening and check into a hotel. Rest and acclimatize at 6,000+ ft altitude for the treks ahead.
Post breakfast, start the much-awaited trek to the UNESCO-listed Valley of Flowers National Park. The trail is floral heaven, with meadows bursting with rare Himalayan flowers like Blue Poppy, Cobra Lily, and more. Cross wooden bridges and bubbling streams as you explore up to 3 km inside the valley. Return to Ghangaria by afternoon and relax at your lodge with hot food.
Start early for the steep 6 km ascent to Hemkund Sahib at 14,200 ft. The path is paved but taxing; you’ll be rewarded with glacial lake views and the spiritual calm of the world’s highest Gurudwara. Enjoy langar (community meal) and visit Laxman Temple beside the lake. Descend carefully and return to Ghangaria by late afternoon for rest and dinner.
